Victorian Era Santa Claus Trade Cards....by Roy Nuhn
Given away free by merchants, found inside packages and tins of various products, and available through the mails, trade cards were once a major advertising medium. These beautiful miniature chromolithographs were immensely popular with the public, who saved and cherished them in special albums.

How many times have you been asked "Do you know a good ....?" - pick one - electrician, carpenter, plumber, mechanic, dentist, lawyer, furniture repair man. We have all had to search for the right person to help us with our daily lives and finding a good furniture person is perhaps one of the harder tasks in an already difficult environment.

Since it was introduced in 1775 as The Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Danish porcelain with its blue on white decorations has never lost its appeal. The blue fluted pattern has never stopped being made using floral variations.

Q. We are repainting the interior of our newly acquired older house. The house had been rental property before we bought it and most of the woodwork has been painted with latex paint. I have been told not to put oil based paint over latex because it will not adhere.

In comparative terms most classic furniture of the ages was created for adults and not children. But in historic terms children’s furniture was made in most every style and throughout every important period.

Q. This child’s highchair has been in my family since 1903. Original finish and no tray. I am interested in the history since the carving on The back looks like an old English “court jester”. We think it is oak and would like a value.
