	ON THE COVER - September Issue 2008 Labor Day Collectibles By: Roy Nuhn For more than 100 years, Labor Day has been an important and much celebrated holiday for Americans. It also offers a fascinating and interesting array of memorabilia to collect. Labor Day has come to mean summer's end and the coming of fall and winter with the joyous year-end rituals of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. It is one of three movable feast days on our calendar - the others being Easter and Thanksgiving.
	Fabulous Dolls of the 50s By: Robert Reed Growing up the 1950s had to be a grand experience. A new decade of expansion and prosperity had replaced the years of economic depression and world war. Incomes were up as the nation entered the 1950s, and the sheer number of American families was on the increase. When Dwight Eisenhower was elected president in 1952 a delighted Pennsylvania told Time magazine, "it's like America came home."
	As Americans we have a lot to be proud about in the field of furniture. We perfected the English idea of the Windsor chair. We developed several new styles like American Neoclassical and the forms of furniture we have conjured up is almost limitless. But one thing we smugly congratulate ourselves on is definitely not of our own making.
	Q. Can you give me any information on this vase marked “ e/c Company”, within a wreath, and “Japan hand painted”?
	Q. I have acquired a Flint & Horner Dining table. It is approximately 5ft in diameter and opens to approximately 8ft -10ft in length. There is a label tacked to the underside which is as follows - on the left side is a circle which reads (outside top of circle) "FLINT QUALITY" (Center of Circle)
